Comparing Air Mattress with Spring Bed
When it comes to types of bed, only two kinds of mattresses are more popularly used today; the air mattress and the spring coil mattress. These two types of mattresses are usually found in stores. For those who are thinking about which one is better, this article will have some comparisons of the two. Let us discuss the qualities of these two types of bed.
A spring mattress is one of the most generally used types of bed. The spring mattress typically uses steel coils to support the inner core of the mattress. To keep the shape of the mattress, the coils are interconnected by wires. In some spring mattresses, the coils are not connected but are pocketed. These coils are then surrounded or covered by paddings to avoid discomfort.
Spring mattress is somewhat durable. It can last for a long period. The spring mattress’ firmness is also permanent. Once it is set, the firmness will stay on throughout the bed’s lifetime. However, over time, the spring coils lose their form and shape. This could be a cause of discomfort on the user.
Meanwhile, an air mattress does not use spring coils. As its name suggests, it is an inflatable mattress with air-filled chambers. The mattress is made of plastic or rubber. The airbed’s firmness can be adjusted from time to time, unlike the spring bed. Some great characteristics of an air mattress are that it is lightweight, portable and comfortable. It can be used for camping, or for temporary use of house guests, or for permanent home use.
Between these two types of beds, the better kind is the air mattress. Aside from its comfortability, it is also more durable. The air bed is also economical. A good air bed, one that is so comfortable and longer lasting, is definitely a good buy than an expensive, fancy spring bed.
